Job Title: Law Clerk
Duties:
Assist attorneys in civil matters -
· conduct legal research on statutes, precedents, regulations, legal codes, court rules and legal articles or treaties in relation to topics or issues given by attorneys;
· obtain information from clients who speak Chinese only or primarily, and identify relevant and supportive facts for client’s claims and for legal propositions;
· prepare and draft legal documents compliant with legal standards, such declarations, default requests, settlement agreements, case briefs or memorandums, subpoenas, legal notices, letters and others;
· assist attorneys in discovery proceedings by reviewing responses and documents produced by clients or by opposing parties, provide review summaries to attorneys identifying deficiencies in discovery responses, and prepare separate statements for discovery motions;
· ensure filing and maintenance of documents in compliance with laws, regulations, professional standards and ethics.
Qualification Requirements:
· Master of Law from an accredited university or law school in the US
· 1-year prior full time work as associate / law clerk involving contract & business, duties include legal research, drafting memorandums, statement of facts, agreements, declarations, letters & others
· possession of skills including Legal Research Database (Westlaw, LexisNexis), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· fluent in English and Chinese-Mandarin (read, speaking and moderate writing)

The firm’s attorneys successfully represented an owner of cryptocurrency worth over $5 million, whose Binance account was seized by the United States Government. As counsel for the owner, the firm's attorneys appeared as claimants in the civil forfeiture action, analyzing the government’s evidence that purported to trace the client’s cryptocurrency to an alleged pig butchering scheme. By exposing the fatal weaknesses in the Government’s case, the firm’s attorneys were able to persuade the Government to return all of the cryptocurrency to the firm’s client without a trial.
